My views -- Not saying they are right but they are mine.

Tonight I have been thinking quite a bit about my political stance on issues for some reason. I am in the middle of buying a house, taking my finals, and just generally busy yet my mind is occupied by what my political stance should be. I think this topic has been thrown up in my head by the repeated calls from various parties asking for my support. Monetarily of course. Obama, the republicans, Kerry, Christopher Walken, and of course Hilary reps have all called asking for my hard earned dollars. Well I am going to put my true feelings to rest right now. I don't like none of you SOBs/DOBs (Well maybe Christopher Walken lol). All of you all are out for self. Be it power, prestige, money, or whatever, you just aren't there for the people that truly need your help.

I think my other problem is I don't believe in war in general. Most wars come down to its leaders. I figure why drag an entire country down with you. Lets do it death match style so you can put your own asses on the line for what you believe so fervently in. (Two men enter, one man leave lol) I know that sounds oh so very democratic but it isn't. It is humanistic. I'm an independent damn it! Yes I want universal health care but I also what a flat tax which is libertarian. I also believe in small government at the same time which is republican. Abortion is wrong in my eyes but it is not my decision nor my body so I am pro-choice (I do want to say if I could carry a child, I would; because I feel it is a honor to be given that type of responsibility over a life). I have never touched an illegal drug in my life yet I feel far to much tax money is spent trying to stop it instead of using it as another form of taxed income. We all know it is just a matter of time anyway. Marbol has already trademarked Marbol Greens just in case.

Grow the economy by supporting small business cause big business will always be just that, BIG.

Ok one more issue. I believe reparations are owed not because of Lincoln but because the country to a point was developed on the back of unwilling participants. I am a part of an African American generation that has little hope of being able to find where we originally come from. How can I have a sense of pride about a country that cut me off from my ancestry. Don't get me wrong, a great deal of African life well--sucks. I'm greatful I am in a better situation, but that is not good enough. Native Americans got land, I want mine damn it!

Ok I have laid it out a bit. Like it or hate it, it is me.

Is that a smerk Brother Bill?

At a software presentation this Chinese guy ran out displaying a sign saying "Free Software Open Source" in protest to Microsoft. Check out Brother Bill standing in the line with that big I cant believe this is happening smile on his face lol. I had to post this cause an opensource program named BitPim failed me today. I wanted to use it on my Mac to x-fer the contact data from my LG VX9800 (The V) to my computer. Well I kept getting the error "Error when switching from none to brew". After reading a bunch of forums and trying a bit of everything over both bluetooth and usb I said fark it and forked over the cash for the Mac version of DataPilot. I fortunately got a 25% off discount because I had purchased it before for PC. I installed it and boo-bam no problems. It kind of goes to prove that as much promise as OpenSource offers, there is something to say about the drive of money to make a company produce good turn key solutions.

Patent app hints at iPhone controlling Mac, iTunes

Okay, so we've heard using an Apple Remote whilst trying to fool no one into believing it's an iPhone, but apparently, the patent pumpers in Cupertino are getting serious about executing that equation in reverse. According to a recent filing, Apple engineers explain how a mysterious "mobile phone" could be used to control your Mac (and specific applications like iTunes) via built-in Bluetooth, and the wording even mentions specific software that would be tailored to the Mac and handset in order to make it all happen. More specifically, consumers could "use the directional controls on the mobile phone to change listing volume, skip forward and backward, play / pause, etc.," and while no mention of the forthcoming iPhone is directly made, the allusion here is fairly clear.

It's a small Internet

So I am prepping the yard at the townhouse for the slews of potential renters while listening to some podcasts. One of the shows I listen to very often is MacCast with host Adam (04-04-07 show). In the show they get to a section on Apple TV were Adam talks about his experience. He gets to a section where he had some questions about surround sound and he leads to an audible comment left by one of his listeners, Lance G. Now I know what you are thinking. Who cares. When Lance actually works with me as a trainer. I have gone to his house for super bowl and I am going to reception for his wedding. In other words we know each other pretty well. It just kind of shocked me to hear someone I know on a web-based program. Now I know the guys here are gonna ride him for a while (mainly cause I told them about it lol) but it is actually a really cool thing. A Mac specialist referred to one of my friends as a consultant. So Lance I gotta say good job buddy. Now I must embarrass the crap out of you lol. Here is a link to the show if you wnat to hear it, and by all means subscribe to it in iTunes. It is a really good show.

Credit Card Addiction

Those of you that know me know I absolutely love to buy gadgets. Any kind of gadget. From game systems to computer equipment to little toys---um man toys lol. Well what ya'll dont know is that I charge--a lot. I mean I go nuts sometimes because I feel like you work your ass off and should be able to do that sometimes. Well, I went a bit to crazy and have charge $5000.00. The problem isnt that I cant afford the payment or cant pay it off. The problem is hat I have an extremely froogle wife and I am in the middle of buying a house. Well last night it came to a head because my wife and I decided to use the equity from our new house purchase to pay off somethings. The car, a small loan, and my credit card. Well wen t I gave her the amount she absolutely flipped. To me it is no big deal but to her it is like I shot her dog. I feel bad about making her upset but the other part of me is like "chill out" it is just money. And there it is. The responsibility bug. I have successfully swatted it away for years but I think it actually landed. That is a lot of money to have in revolving credit. Then I start think of what I could do in the house with that. Wash and Dryer, Furniture, a riding lawn mower. So what did I do and am going to do about it. I turned over the cards. I actually gave them to my wife to help stop me. At the same time I kind of feel like a kid that has been put on restriction you know?

Red House Blues - Jimi Hendrix

Ok last one I promise. Play it white boy!!!

Chapman Stick scene in Dune

Ok last one but I had to post the scene from Dune..lol Check the guy out that was sleep lol. Sorry my favorite movie of all time so I had to post it.

Chapman Stick video - One Cloud

This guy is a master. I only posted the other vid because of the history and the fact that he showed different styles.

Darrell Havard Chapman Stick Demo

I can't believe I never heard of this instrument. The fact that Patrick Stewart used it in the original Dune as a prop just adds to its lure. I so have to learn how to play this. One guy said that it is more like playing a piano. The lure of being able to play the rhythm along with the lead is wild. I know the vid has a bit of a bio but it is truly a unique instrument.

Die DRM Die!!

Ok I know this is all over the place but I just wanted to give the quick quick version of what Brother Steve is responsible for and saying about changes in iTunes and online music in general.

  • EMI is allowing their full catalog of music to be downloaded without DRM protection starting in May (Artist included such as Norah Jones, ColdPlay, Beetles, Beatie Boys, David Bowie, Duran Duran lol Duran Duran)
    • DRM is technology that limits the use of music on multiple platforms (In the case of iTunes only iPods will play their stuff or for Windows Media Player only the Zune will play those purchased songs)
  • The new songs will cast $1.29 instead of $.99 but will also go from 128bit sound to 256bit sound.
    • For audiophiles that is a biggie to get near CD quality sound
  • You can still get the files with DRM for $.99 at 128bit
  • If you have any titles already from EMI you can upgrade them to the DRM free, 256-bit versions for $.20
  • Lastly the CD compilations will remain the same price for DRM free verisons.
Viva la revolution Brother Steve!!!

I got faked out

I am in a panic about the house at this point. We are supposed to move in there by May 1st. In other words my lease will be up May 1st so the house needs to be ready before then to get moved in and what not. Well I always try to stop by while I am down in Elizabeth City which is about every other day. Well today I pulled up and saw back loaders and trucks and cars and got excited. I found out that my excitement was misplaced because they were just there do do on another lot what had already been done to mine. I hope they get mind done on time cause if they dont I will,,,I will,,,I WILL just wait some more lol. Until the next pictorial update here is the sat pic with my land in yellow courtesy of Google Earth for your viewing pleasure.

Get a little WOW going

Those of you that know me know I have engaged in an MMORPG called World of Warcraft for the last two years off and on. Well now for some reason I am getting into playing my new character, a Dreni, Hunter. Big whoop right?? Well you have to understand that this character has brought me full circle. I started off with a Dwarf, Hunter way way back when the game first came out. So anyway I wont bore you with game play or anything liek that but I will leave you with a simple picture to introduce Larfwin on the Eonar server lol.
